March Newsletter

By 2nd April 2023No Comments

March has taken its lead from January and February and once again the gym has had an extremely busy month. Full of new projects within the gym, with our outreach work and our fight team.

We finished February off with our monthly walk, this time we went to the peak district to conquer Mam Tor. It was a windy one to say the least and didn’t go as smoothly as our first outing the month before for various reasons, all of which were down to me! But we successfully scaled the hill in the end, and we have another team photo to add to our collection!

In regard to our outreach work, Jack and Rich went along with the rest of team to deliver a boxing festival as part of the school games programme, to 12 local primary schools. The aim was to provide something for those who are disengaged and switched off to physical activity. We had 52 boys and girls attend and they all smashed it. It was a really positive day with special thanks to Mally and Will, and Saif who kept the gym running for us. As always, it’s a team effort.

March also saw us hold our ‘invincible woman’ event, in conjunction with international women’s day. We had a confidence workshop taken by Audrie Woodhouse, and then everyone had the chance to get involved in a boxing training session alongside female pro boxers and our own amateur females! It was a successful afternoon and off the back of it we will soon be starting a women’s only class during the day, twice a week!

Finally onto our fight team and we’ve had wins across the board! With Beth winning up in Sunderland, Iyran in Bradford and Noah with back to back wins within a week. The Team is looking ready for our next home show at Cedar Court hotel, Bradford on April 21st.

Our numbers continue to grow even with the rise of cost of living. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that is part of the gym. The Training Cave belongs to everyone that comes through the doors, and we appreciate you all so much.
