FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER

By 1st March 2023No Comments

After January getting off to such a busy start, we were expecting things to slow down a little in February, but if anything, it’s got busier!

We had our first team Training Cave walk at Malham cove which was a huge success, with over 40 adults and children attending. We were blown away by the numbers and although the weather was wet and wild, everyone looked to have a great time. All ages and all levels of fitness took part, and it was a really good day out. We’ve just completed our second walk which was at Mam Tor, more to come on that one next month.

Numbers are staying high for our group classes, with the Rocky leaving us begging for summer to get here so that we can use the outside space more and fit even more people in. And the parent and child class has been really popular this month. The vibe around the gym is just buzzing, and the momentum is really picking up pace for all our members to have a great year of improving their physical and mental health!

Whilst on the subject of mental health, our coaching team worked with Debbie Riley this month to learn about eating disorders. Weight plays a key part in the sport of boxing, and we wanted to be sure that we are offering the highest duty of care to our boxers, learning how to help with any situations that arise, and most importantly how to listen. It was a brilliant workshop, and we look forward to working with Debbie going forward!

In terms of the boxing team, February brought us a lot to shout about. Harry Avis had his first Senior bout. First one without a head guard against a strong Irish opponent and Harry boxed brilliantly to get the win! In the Junior championships, Iryan lost on a split decision, but he was very unlucky not to get the win and he can be proud of his performance. Kian won unanimously and sailed through to the final and Tye got a bye and will also be through to the finals.

We also had our home show this month at The Bradford Hotel. We had 16 fights lined up with our younger generation opening the show with some of their first skills/fights and leading the way for our older boxers to follow later. Once again it was a huge success and we will be doing a separate write up specifically for the show, so that we can give a full account of what happened on the night! The good, the bad…and the ugly!

In March we have the Yorkshire finals to look forward to, and our Invincible Woman event with takes place on 11th March. Its 1.30-3.30 and will involve confidence coaching and a boxing session. Please email – info@trainingcave.co.uk if you would like to know more!
