This summer the Training Cave decided not to run its own summer camp for the first time in 2 years. We thought that we could have a greater social impact by helping other youth orgnisations in different areas.
This week we finished our last sessions at parkside in Bradford. We’ve looked back through our reports and in total we have trained 470 young people in different locations over the summer.
Training Cave has delivered boxing sessions at Oakwell Hall and Fieldhead in Birstall, Shawcross in Dewsbury and Parkside in Bradford.
We want to say a massive thank you to all of the young participants. They’ve been great! (Lucy felt a little emotional leaving the Bradford crew).
Big thank you also to our sessional workers; Brandon, Lucy, Rahith, Jack, Shannon and Mally for delivering brilliant boxing classes. We’ve received some great feedback.
Training Cave has mostly done things on its own over the last couple of years. This was the first attempt at joining forces with other like minded youth organisations and we want to thank them all for having us!! Game changerz in Birstall, Crescent care in shawcross and Prentice Hill in Bradford.
Also a huge thank you to Byron Francis from Unity boxing academy for helping us to spread our outreach beyond Kirklees to Bradford. We look forward to joining forces in the future.
As a result, collaborating with other groups this year has helped us to improve our own productivity, we’ve been able to reach more young people than we normally do and we have been able to share ideas and skills with other community organisations.
Since re opening in April we feel its been a successful year so far. Thank you to everyone for the support in sharing social media posts, giving positive feedback and helping us to spread the important message of staying strong for life.
‘Youth organisations are set up to bridge gaps, not create them.’
